? Santa Fe Trail’s girls basketball team jumped out to a 16-10 first-quarter lead and hit eight three-pointers en route to a 52-33 victory Friday over Mill Valley.

“I was really pleased with the way we came out tonight offensively,” SFT coach Brenda Dahl said.

Santa Fe Trail’s Melissa Ball led all scorers with 20 points. Lindsey Boss added 10, and Janelle Arnold scored nine.

The Chargers will travel to Basehor on Monday to face Basehor-Linwood.

Kansas City The Cyclones led 26-2 after the first quarter and scored 27 second-period points.

“It gave us a lot of confidence and at least a little momentum going into next week,” Ottawa coach Cliff McCullough said.

Lindsey Dieterich led Ottawa with 27 points. Jayme Vance scored 14 and Kathryn Sylvester added 12.

Liz Burks and Katie Sheffield both had 10 assists for the Cyclones. Burks scored eight points but Sheffield went scoreless for the second straight game.

“I liked the fact that she realized she wasn’t shooting well so she turned around and dished out 10 assists,” McCullough said.

Ottawa will play host to KC Ward on Monday.
