Dorothy Cohen Keltz

Services for Dorothy Cohen Keltz, Lawrence, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Jewish Community Center.

Mrs. Keltz died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Lawrence, the daughter of Morris “Shorty” and Mary (Bear) Cohen.

She grew up in Lawrence, attended high school at Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City, and later graduated from the Marjorie Webster Academy in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Keltz was a homemaker and member of Lawrence Jewish Community Center, former president of the Lawrence Art Guild, served for many years on the Lawrence Human Relations Commission and volunteered for the Ballard Community Center.

She married Harold L. “Hal” Keltz on Oct. 2, 1944, in Los Angeles. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mary K. Hersh, San Francisco, a son, Kenneth W. Keltz, Alameda, Calif., and a stepgrandson.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Jewish Community Center, Hospice Care of Douglas County or to Audio Reader, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
