John H. Snowden

? He was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Chicago, the son of Harold M. and Vera (Horn) Snowden. He had lived in Tonganoxie since 1986.

Mr. Snowden served as a jet-engine machinist in the U.S. Navy for 30 years before he retired in 1974. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was a member of Tonganoxie Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite of Lawrence; Abdallah Shrine; Byron H. Mehl American Legion Post No. 23 of Leavenworth; the 40 & 8, Voiture No. 1163; and Eagles of Leavenworth.

He married Laura Wiles, who died in 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Bill, Hanford, Calif., and Bob, North Port, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be conducted.

The family suggests memorials to Shriner’s Hospital, sent in care of Abdallah Shrine Temple, 5300 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park 66201, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
