The University Women’s Club will meet for a noon luncheon Thursday in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union. Sandra Calvin Hastings, a professor of English at Johnson County Community College, will portray Emily Dickinson for the program. Club members may contact Vicki Occhipinti at 832-9130 for information regarding lunch and reservations.

The Lawrence 99er Duplicate Bridge Club’s Jan. 23 game was stratified and directed by Don Brennaman.

The winners were led by Harriett Olson and Artie Shaw, followed by Emily Foster and Albert Ballard. Jan Darting and Eldon Herd placed third, followed by Betty Spalsbury and Glenna Herd. Ann Thompson and Julie Ward placed fifth.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club’s Jan. 25 game was stratified and directed by Don Brennaman.

The winners were led by James Gunn and Harry Shaffer, followed by Virginia Seaver and Klee Zaricky. Phyllis Brownlee and Mildred Linley placed third, followed by Cathy Blumenfeld and Mike Blumenfeld. Glenna Herd and Don Brennaman placed second in the B session. Madelyn Jenks and Mona Bell tied for third place with Shirley Reese and Shirlie Vaughn. Placing second in the C session was Frances Vogel and Wanda Edmonds.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s Jan. 28 game was stratified and directed by Virginia Seaver.

The winners were led by Jerry Sloan and Harry Shaffer, followed by Julia Dalton and Lester Dalton. Russell LaForce and Don Brennaman placed third. Brian Baresch and Bill Schutzel tied for fourth place with David Rhea and Christie Thomas. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd placed second in the B session. Emily Foster and Julie Ward placed first in the C session.

The Santa Fe Trail Historical Society potluck and annual meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of Baldwin First United Methodist Church. The carry-in potluck dinner will be followed by a short business meeting and election of officers and directors. John English will be the guest speaker.
