Weather plays havoc with area, city events

Inclement weather from earlier in the week has forced weekend high school sports events to be postponed.

The Lawrence High boys basketball game at Olathe East on Thursday was postponed. No makeup date has been set.

Also, Free State High’s wrestling double-dual at Santa Fe Trail on Thursday was postponed to Wednesday. However, FSHS athletics director Steve Grant indicated the Firebirds wouldn’t attend the makeup meet.

Tonight’s Lawrence High’s girls basketball game against Olathe East at LHS has been postponed. No make-up date has been set.

The Sunflower League boys swim meet at Olathe Chisholm Trail Junior High, 16700 W. 159th St., has been shortened from a two-day to a one-day meet. Today’s preliminaries were canceled. Diving is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the swimming set to start at noon.

Here’s a look at postponements for area schools:

Baldwin High has postponed tonight’s boys-girls basketball doubleheader at Prairie View. No makeup date has been set.

Eudora High called off its wrestling meet Thursday at Louisburg and tonight’s boys-girls home basketball doubleheader against Osawatomie. No makeup dates have been set for the EHS events.

Tonganoxie High’s home wrestling double-dual against Lansing and Mill Valley for Thursday was postponed to Wednesday. THS also has postponed tonight’s boys-girls basketball doubleheader against DeSoto. No makeup date has been set.

Wellsville High’s girls home basketball game against Paola on Thursday was postponed. The WHS-Paola boys game tonight at Wellsville also was called. No makeup dates have been set.

Santa Fe Trail’s boys-girls basketball doubleheader against Leavenworth Immaculata tonight at Carbondale was postponed. No makeup date has been set.

Ottawa High’s boys-girls home basketball doubleheader tonight against Kansas City Sumner remained in doubt as of Thursday evening. OHS was without power on Thursday. OHS athletics director David Grover said Tuesday’s postponed boys-girls doubleheader against Kansas City Ward has been rescheduled for Feb. 11.

Perry-Lecompton’s boys-girls basketball doubleheader against Lansing tonight at Perry remains in doubt.

McLouth’s home boys-girls basketball doubleheader tonight against Wathena remains in doubt.

Oskaloosa’s boys-girls doubleheader tonight at Troy remains in doubt.
