Walker services

Services for Edythe Pauline Walker, 91, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. today at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel in Coffeyville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville.

Mrs. Walker died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born July 18, 1911, in Neodesha, the daughter of Elmer W. and Laura Etta (Hicks) Payne. She grew up and attended schools in Neodesha. She lived in Rawlins and Parco, Wyo., before moving to Coffeyville in the 1930s.

Mrs. Walker was a hairdresser at Kel-Mur Beauty Salon from 1931 to 1948. After her husband’s death, she moved to Lawrence, where she was a sales clerk for Calhoun Ready To Wear Store. She retired in 1976 and moved to Kansas City, then returned to Lawrence in 1996. She attended Evangelistic Center in Kansas City, Mo.

She married Francis Earl Walker on May 24, 1929, in Neodesha. He died Feb. 2, 1962.

Survivors include a sister, Avola Ruth Cayton, Winfield; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Patricia Ann Vittetoe, and a granddaughter died earlier.

Friends may call until service time today at the funeral chapel.

The family suggests memorials to Assembly of God Church of Coffeyville, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence.
