Brownies of Troops 726 and 585 collected 160 pairs of eyeglasses as part of the Lions Club International’s Sight Night on Oct. 31. The girls, ages 6 to 9, decorated eyeglass collection boxes that were placed in Lawrence businesses and distributed informational fliers in select neighborhoods. On Halloween, they collected the eyeglasses. The eyeglasses were turned over to Lori Miller, president of Lawrence River City Lions Club. The eyeglasses were cleaned, sorted and delivered to optometrists and Lions Club volunteers who will send them to people in developing countries.

To donate eyeglasses to the Brownies’ collection effort or to find out more about Lions or Brownies in Lawrence, call Miller at 841-2819 or go online to www.lawrencelions.org.
