Mesa Louise Brunton

? Services for Mesa Louise Brunton, 90, Perry, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Ozawkie Cemetery.

Mrs. Brunton died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Mitchell Dea and Amelia Dona (McCall) Elliott.

She graduated in 1931 from Ozawkie High School and moved in 1938 to the Perry area.

Mrs. Brunton was a clerk typist for the state of Kansas in Topeka for several years and at Kansas University’s Watson Library. She retired in 1977.

She was a member of Perry United Methodist Church, Perry Area Extension Unit, charter member of Jefferson County Historical Society and member and past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Ramona Chapter No. 431 of Perry.

She married Mason Edward Brunton on May 24, 1931, in Oskaloosa. He died March 9, 1973.

Survivors include three sons, Elliott L. Brunton and Mason “Lee” Brunton, both of Perry, and Leon O. Brunton, Ozawkie; two daughters, Joann Louise Hood, Erlanger, Ky., and Judith K. Hotchkiss, Perry; a stepsister, Nadine Keith, WaKeeney; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today.
