Feeley to start again at QB for Eagles

Philadelphia — Quarterback A.J. Feeley is 4-0 as a starter and will have another chance to stay perfect against the New York Giants on Saturday.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said Feeley will start again because Koy Detmer is not ready to play yet. Feeley has led the NFC East champion Eagles to four consecutive wins since taking over for injured teammates Detmer and Donovan McNabb.

Detmer has been sidelined since dislocating his elbow in a win over the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 25. McNabb went down with a broken ankle Nov. 17.

Feeley has completed 73 of 129 passes (57 percent) for 858 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Eagles can clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a victory over the Giants. The Giants can clinch a wild-card spot with a win.

Bulger will miss finale with spinal injury

St. Louis — Rams quarterback Marc Bulger will miss the team’s finale next Monday night because of a spinal injury that will not require surgery or harm his career.

Bulger was hurt when he was sacked early in Sunday’s 30-10 loss at Seattle. The spinal injury was described as three compression fractures. Matt Matava, one of the team physicians, said Bulger should be healthy in six-to-eight weeks.

“There’s no danger to him whatsoever,” St. Louis coach Mike Martz said. “It just requires rest. It’s painful for him, but it’s not going to hinder his career or affect him in any way.”

Martz said backup Jamie Martin, who played most of Sunday’s game, had his knee drained and is questionable for the home game against San Francisco. That would leave Scott Covington as the Rams’ only healthy QB.

Brunell day-to-day with injured hamstring

Jacksonville, Fla. — Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell was still sore Monday after pulling his right hamstring against Tennessee.

Coach Tom Coughlin said Brunell was day-to-day, and he would determine Brunell’s status for next Sunday’s game against Indianapolis later in the week.

Also hurt Sunday were receiver Jimmy Smith (shoulder) and running back Fred Taylor (ankle), although Coughlin said neither injury appeared serious.

Titans QB McNair bothered by bad back

Nashville, Tenn. — Steve McNair’s sore ribs are healing, but now the quarterback’s back is starting to hurt.

McNair threw for 115 yards and ran for a season-high 58 yards in a 28-10 victory Sunday over Jacksonville. He left the game early in the fourth quarter and watched the end with ice strapped to his lower back.

Coach Jeff Fisher said McNair was pretty good Monday.

“He’s dealing more specifically now with some low back tightness and soreness. The ribs may perhaps be a thing of the past. I’d really like to try to get him to practice this week. It sounds like I’ve been there before,” Fisher said.

Colts LB Washington questionable for finale

Indianapolis — Starting outside linebacker Marcus Washington has a sprained knee and is questionable for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville.

Receiver Qadry Ismail had a concussion during the third quarter Sunday and will undergo neurological tests this week. If cleared, coach Tony Dungy said he expected Ismail to play.

Mornhinweg not worried about job security

Allen Park, Mich. — Detroit closes its second season under Marty Mornhinweg and chief executive Matt Millen on Sunday at home against Minnesota, and owner William Clay Ford Sr. has said he will make a decision about their future after the game.

While speculation swirls about their future, Mornhinweg insisted he will not think about his job security.

“If I were able to even think about that for a few minutes, it would be a disservice to the players,” Mornhinweg said.

Falcons’ Christian out

Flowery Branch, Ga. — Falcons fullback Bob Christian will not play this weekend with a concussion, and he acknowledged Monday that his career could be over. It was his second concussion in two months. He sustained a mild concussion in a Week 7 win over Carolina after colliding with safety Damien Richardson.

Packers’ Sharper injured, but hasn’t been ruled out

Green Bay, Wis. — Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper has a sprained right knee but has not been ruled out for this weekend’s game against the New York Jets.

An MRI on Monday confirmed that Sharper sprained his medical collateral ligament when he took a helmet to the knee during his league-leading seventh interception return Sunday against Buffalo.

Broncos uncertain about Griese’s status

Denver — Brian Griese’s sprained left knee was still sore Monday, but the Denver Broncos won’t know until later this week whether he’ll play Sunday’s home game against Arizona.

Griese, who earlier missed two games with a similar injury, did not return to the game after he was sacked by Oakland’s Bill Romanowski in the second quarter of Denver’s 28-16 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Monday Griese’s knee was worse than three weeks ago, when he wasn’t able to play against the San Diego Chargers.

Wide receiver Ed McCaffrey had a bruised sternum and hand, and running back Clinton Portis had a bruised kneecap. Shanahan believes both will be ready for the Cardinals.

Bears waiting on QB

Lake Forest, Ill. — The Bears will wait until later in the week to decide whether quarterback Henry Burris will make the first start of his NFL career in Sunday’s season finale against Tampa Bay. Starting quarterback Burris went 8-of-22 for 50 yards in relief Sunday.
