Ronald Larkin

? He was born June 15, 1942, in Axtell the son of Francis and Elizabeth (Lierz) Larkin. He grew up on the family’s farm east of Baileyville and graduated from B and B High School in 1960. He attended Highland Community College, Benedictine College in Atchison, and Clayton University in St. Louis, earning a degree in business administration.

Mr. Larkin worked for Mobil Oil Corp. for 32 years, living in the Kansas City area, Princeton, Ill., and Lakeland, Fla., where he also owned BeeLine Signs. He retired in 1997 and moved with his wife to Axtell in 1998.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Church, where he was a lector and CCD teacher. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and served on the Axtell City Council. He had been a member of the Lions Club in Illinois and the United Way board in Florida, and he had coached 35 various sports teams through the years.

He married Janice Heiman on Feb. 23, 1963, in Axtell. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Randall, Lawrence; three daughters, Lisa Coultas, Valrico, Fla., Jana Gudenkauf, Axtell, and Joy Lohmeyer, Lone Tree, Colo.; his mother, Seneca; a brother, Bruce, Baileyville; a sister, Mary Heiman, Olathe; and eight grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. today at Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca.

The family suggests memorials to St. Michael’s School at Axtell, sent in care of the family.
