Most government offices and public services in Lawrence will be closed Wednesday in observance of Christmas.

Some will close early or shut down altogether Tuesday for Christmas Eve.

City offices will be closed Wednesday, and the Lawrence Transit System and the T Lift will not operate that day.

Residential trash pickup will be one day later this week. Commercial collection scheduled for Wednesday will be collected on Thursday.

To report a water or sewer emergency after business hours or during the holiday, contact the city’s utilities department at 843-2685.

The public library will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The city’s cemetery office will be closed Wednesday.

Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed until Jan. 5.

Douglas County offices will be closed Wednesday.

Ottawa offices will be closed Wednesday.

Baldwin offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

DeSoto City Hall will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Eudora offices will close at noon on Tuesday and be closed Wednesday.

• South Park Recreation Center, closed
• East Lawrence Center, walking 8 p.m. to 10 a.m., free play 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and program enrollment 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Community Building, walking 8 p.m. to 10 a.m., free play 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and program enrollment 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Holcom Park Recreation Center, walking 8 p.m. to 11 a.m., free play 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and program enrollment 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Eagle Bend Golf Course, public shotgun start at 9 a.m.
• Prairie Park Nature Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
