Martha Catherine Hopkins

She was born July 26, 1922, in Lawrence, the daughter of William George and Pearl Mable (Wilson) Martin. She lived in Lawrence most of her life and moved to McLouth in 1990.

Mrs. Hopkins was a department supervisor for E and E Specialties from 1956 to 1972. She and her husband were co-owners of Hopkins Sheet Metal, from which she retired. She was a member of Lawrence Friends Church, where she was an active volunteer.

She married Eugene C. Hopkins on Nov. 24, 1940, in Tonganoxie. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Ronnie Ray Hopkins and Terry Lee Hopkins, both of Lawrence; a daughter, Martha Gene Hopkins Murphy, McLouth; an adopted daughter, Vicky Valcour, Woodbridge, Va.; two brothers, Clyde Allen Martin, Big Sandy, Tex., and Aubrey Eugene Martin, Lamar, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Jefferson County Hospice sent in care of the funeral chapel.
