Two Kansas University administrators, including an associate dean, have been elected fellows of the American Psychological Assn.

The two are John Colombo, professor of psychology and associate dean of the graduate school on the Lawrence campus, and Kathryn Saunders, director of research at the Schiefulbusch Institute for Life Span Studies at the Parsons Research Center.

They were elected by APA members in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the research, teaching and practice of psychology.

Fellows must demonstrate the national impact of their work through publications, leadership roles or community service in their clinical practice.

Colombo’s research includes studies of the development of attention in infants and young children.

Saunders’ areas of professional interest include human operant behavior, basic cognitive skills related to language and academics, conditional discrimination and stimulus classes, and recombinative generalization in reading.

The American Psychological Assn. in Washington, D.C., is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and is the world’s largest association of psychologists.
