NBA roundup: Jordan mere role player in Wizards’ victory

? Michael Jordan tied a career-low with two points, but Jerry Stackhouse had 28 and the Washington Wizards beat short-handed Toronto 95-82 on Sunday.

Jordan, who turns 40 in February, went 1-for-9 from the field, but had nine assists and eight rebounds as he matched his season-high by playing 40 minutes. He had three assists in the final four minutes.

“The thing that I want everybody to understand on this team is that you don’t have to score to be an impact player. My sole purpose was to rebound, assist and move the ball around,” Jordan said. “Once Jerry got started offensively I wasn’t really looking.”

“What this team needs is someone who can sacrifice their game for the betterment of the team. I’m not afraid to step up and do that. We need to win. We need to get that attitude back. Somebody has to sacrifice their game. I don’t mind that it’s me right now.”

Jordan also scored two points in 12 minutes on April 2, 2002, against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lindsey Hunter had a team-high 22 points for the Raptors, who were without injured All-Star Vince Carter and leading rebounder Antonio Davis.
