Iris Irmalee Wakeman

Services for Iris Irmalee Wakeman, 77, Warrensburg, Mo., will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Ottawa. Inurnment will follow at Ruhamah Cemetery, Rantoul.

Mrs. Wakeman died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Warrensburg Manor.

She was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of William Vern and Anna Rubie (Kilpatrick) Whitcomb.

She graduated from Spencer High School in 1943 and then worked as a telegraph operator for the Union Pacific Railroad during World War II.

She and her husband owned and operated Orchard Home Fruit Farm near Rantoul for many years.

Mrs. Wakeman lived in Ottawa prior to moving to Fulton, Mo., in 1998 and later Warrensburg.

She marred Warren William Wakeman on Feb. 23, 1947, in Spencer. He died earlier.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Wakeman, Fulton, and Debbie Pleu, Tulsa, Okla.; three sons, Richard Wakeman, Lawrence, Alan Wakeman, Osawatomie, and James Wakeman, Warrensburg, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
