Taylor Anderson, Lawrence, will receive the Eagle Scout Award during a Court of Honor Sunday at Westside Presbyterian Church. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 55.

Anderson, 18, began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub in first grade. He has attended Camp Naish and Camp Bartle, and is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and Order of the Arrow. He also has been to Kanik, camped the Wichita Mountains, and participated in a high adventure camp. For his Eagle project, Anderson supervised the building of a weather station for the nature center at Deerfield School.

Anderson is a senior at Free State High School. He plays tuba and sousaphone in the Free State Marching Band, Symphonic Band and Orchestra. He has been selected as a member of both the district and state bands each of his high school years. Anderson is a member of the National Honor Society and sings with the Lawrence Free State Chorale. Anderson attends First Presbyterian Church. He is the son of Scott and Karen Anderson, Lawrence.

Boy Scout Troop 62, chartered to the Linwood Lions Club, had a campout Dec. 6 at Camp Naish. On Dec. 7, they went to work at Bikes & Trikes for Tikes in Kansas City, Kan. Scouts who attended were Tyler Thomas, James Bishop, Josh Bowen, Matthew Beeves, Paul Schlagel and Joe Kelly. They were accompanied by Michael Thomas and Dennis Kelly, adult leaders.

Austin Garner and Grant Stone of Cub Scout Pack 3051, chartered to Pinckney School, took a tour of Kansas University’s Natural History Museum on Dec. 7. They were accompanied by Margot Cameron and Jackie Stone. While at the museum, the boys learned about dissecting a squid.

Boy Scout Troop 53, chartered to the First Christian Church of Lawrence, had a campout Dec. 7-8 at Woodridge Primitive Campground near Clinton Lake. Scouts who attended were Michael Bennett, Mitchell Grant, Devon Griffin, Bob Larrabee, Daniel Rieder, Zach Schmidt, David Teefey, Brett Yulich and Jordan Yulich. Adult leaders who accompanied them included Ron Spangler, Ken Baldwin, Tom Cravens, Craig Grant, Wayne Ideus, Roger Rieder and Mitch Yulich.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 64 camped out Dec. 6-7 at Camp Naish near Bonner Springs. They attended a woodcarving workshop on Dec. 7. They learned the principles of woodcarving and practiced making neckerchief slides. They visited with Pete Lawson, a former Scoutmaster of Troop 64, who was one of the instructors for the workshop. Scouts who attended were David Lewis, Jim Adams, Jacob Beedle, Ethan Becker, Joel Morrison and Frank Male. Adult leaders were Jim Morrison, Karen Lewis and John Scott. Troop 64 is chartered to the Eudora Lions Club.
