Scott J. Parrett Sr.

? He was born June 19, 1917, in Whiting, the son of William P. and Ethel (Lawrence) Parrett. He was raised in the Whiting-Muscotah area and moved in the late 1930s to Topeka.

Mr. Parrett was a tire classifier for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 30 years before he retired in 1979. He was a member of Rubber Workers Union Local No. 307, American Bowling Congress and National Rifle Assn.

He married Vera Morgan on Aug. 10, 1939, in Falls City, Neb. She died Oct. 10, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Jr. and Carroll R., both of Topeka; three brothers, Lawrence, Holton, Lyle, Denison, and Richard, Topeka; a sister, Mary Lou McComb, Las Vegas; six grandchildren, including Michelle L. Brabant of Lawrence; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after noon Monday at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family suggests memorials to the Scott Parrett memorial fund to be designated later, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 2843 S.E. Minnesota Ave., Topeka 66605.
