IN 1962

Lawrence was quietly undergoing a helpful “urban renewal” project through the removal of unsafe and unsightly buildings at various locations. Seven structures had been razed, and others were due to go.

IN 1902

From the Lawrence Daily World of Dec. 10, 1902: “The marshal received a card this morning asking him to look out for a man or woman of questionable character supposed to be coming here from Hutchinson. The distinguishing mark for their identification is that they have a one-eyed spitz dog. . . . J.R. Griggs is the only man in town who does not wear an overcoat. He looks cold but sticks to his pet idea.”
