Harry Lee Tryon

Services for Harry Lee Tryon, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Tryon died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born Dec. 4, 1927, in Lawrence, the son of Edwin and Ottie (Aungerer) Tryon.

Mr. Tryon worked for Commonwealth Theatres during the late 1940s and Lawrence Paper Company from 1950 to 1962. He worked for Merchant’s Delivery Service, B. F. Goodrich/Converse Rubber Company and Lawrence Housing Authority in the 1960s. He began a career with Hercules/Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in DeSoto in 1979. He retired from Hercules in 1992 as roads and grounds foreman. He had been a dealership car driver for Crown Chevrolet of Lawrence since retirement.

He married Mildred M. Castle on April 25, 1949, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two brothers, Charles, Kansas City, and Paul, Lawrence; and a sister, Florence Souders, Lawrence.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until service time Thursday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to American Heart Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
