Stella Selected: Cathy Stella, a junior at Grinnell (Iowa) College who graduated from Free State High, was a second-team selection on the All-Midwest Conference volleyball team. Stella, a middle hitter, finished with 132 blocks and an 0.268 kill percentage. She was also named to the league’s all-academic team.

• Garcia, Medlen Honored: Adrian Garcia and Chris Medlen, both Lawrence High products, were all-league football selections at Saint Mary College in Leavenworth. Garcia made first team at defensive end and third-team punter. Medlen was a first-team wide receiver. Medlen led the KCAC and finished third in the NAIA with 72 receptions.
• Easterwood Returning: Somer Easterwood, a former Lawrence High basketball player, is now starting for Western Illinois and will be here for this weekend’s Jayhawk Classic in Allen Fieldhouse. Easterwood transferred to WIU after spending the last two seasons at Johnson County Community College.

• Three-on-Three Tourney: Coaches Kevin Pritchard and Rex Walters of the Kansas City Knights will make appearances at a three-on-three basketball tournament for fifth through eighth graders on Dec. 28-29 at Dale’s AC in Overland Park. For information, call 816 471-4222.
