On the record

Two people were injured when two cars collided shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. Highways 59 and 56, south of Lawrence, Douglas County SheriffâÂÂs dispatchers said. One person was taken by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and another person was transported to KU Med, Kansas City, Kan., by Life Star helicopter. No other information was available late Wednesday. The Kansas Highway Patrol was investigating the accident.
