Big 12 Women: KSU rewrites record book in win

? Breaking two decade-old school records was one way for Kansas State to make up for its first loss of the season.

Laurie Koehn scored 23 points to lead the seventh-ranked Wildcats to a 115-37 win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday night.

The latest win for Kansas State (6-1)came two days after a 63-57 loss to No. 5 Stanford.

The win, the Wildcats’ eighth straight at home, set marks for most points in a game and margin of victory.

“The record does mean something,” coach Deb Patterson said. “This is one of the best teams that Kansas State has had. It’s fitting for them to have another record under their hat.”

Megan Mahoney and Kendra Wecker each had 22 points for Kansas State, while Nicole Ohlde added 17 points and Brie Madden had 10 rebounds. Ohlde’s four blocks gave her a school-record 102.

Koehn was 6-of-9 from three-point range after going 1-of-9 against Stanford.

The Wildcats led 53-12 at halftime and led by as many as 83 points.

Baylor 70, SE Louisiana 55

Hammond, La. – Steffanie Blackmon scored 30 points to lead Baylor. The Bears (5-10) led 37-33 at the half and shot 53 percent for the game. Southeastern Louisiana (1-2) struggled on offense, managing just 35 percent. Chelsea Whitaker had eight rebounds and eight assists for Baylor.
