Chamberlain services

Graveside services for David R. Chamberlain, 53, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Chamberlain died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Lawrence.

He was born Dec. 13, 1948, in Iola, the son of Leo E. Chamberlain and Patricia M. Piley. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966.

Mr. Chamberlain enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Combat Action Ribbon, RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame, and Rifle Marksman Badge. He received an honorable discharge in July 1970. He enlisted in Kansas Army National Guard in 1975, where he held the rank of staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1997. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 852.

He married Ronda Singleton in 1968. They divorced in 1979.

Survivors include a daughter, Erica Chamberlain, Lawrence; two sons, David and Joe, both of Lawrence; a sister, Jane Chamberlain-Wilkins, Lawrence; a brother, Charles Piley, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to VFW Post No. 852, sent in care of the funeral home.
