Planning commission

Bottom Line

The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission will further consider proposed floodplain regulations.

Background

At their July meeting, planning commissioners asked staff to revise the proposal to exclude existing buildings from the new and expanded “floodplain overlay district.” Homeowners had protested that the designation would hurt their property values and force them to buy expensive flood insurance.
