Boschee becomes an author

August 21, 2002

Jeff Boschee the three-point bomber soon will be known as Jeff Boschee the author.

Boschee, who finished his college basketball career last season as the all-time leading three-point shooter in Kansas University and Big 12 Conference history, has penned an autobiography with the help of Chicago-based author Mark Horvath, the same person who collaborated with ex-KU player Jerod Haase on the book, "Floor Burns."

Boschee's book will be titled "Long Shot" and should be released near Halloween.

"The name was suggested because it's a long shot for somebody from North Dakota to make it and Jeff's specialty, of course, is the long shot the three-point shot," Horvath said of the 6-foot-1 Valley City, N.D., native.

"The book starts with Jeff at 5 and he takes us through his life until now," Horvath added. "It's more anecdotes and stories than game accounts. It's Jeff Boschee telling his story to the readers."

Boschee's book likely will cost about $14.95 and be available in bookstores in Kansas and North Dakota.

"Jeff is somewhat of an enigma in that he has that stoic expression all the time (on the court)," Horvath noted. "He keeps so much bottled inside. This will give fans a chance to see who Jeff Boschee is. I think it will be very entertaining."

Boschee will be autographing the book at various locations once it is released.

Boschee, who plans on being a coach, will finish his degree at KU this school year and work in the basketball office as an intern.

Haase's book, by the way, was a big hit, selling about 38,000 copies.
