Ex-Lion Hooper extends streak

? Calgary Cannons infielder Kevin Hooper had a hit Monday to extend his hitting streak to 31 games, the longest hitting streak in franchise history and longest in the minor leagues this season.

Hooper, a 5-foot-9, 155-pound Lawrence High and Wichita State product, was 1-for-5 with no runs and no RBIs in the Cannons’ 5-3 victory over the Portland Beavers in the Pacific Coast League.

The Cannons are the Triple-A affiliate for the Florida Marlins.
