County resident reports $8,000 of missing jewelry

Nearly $8,000 worth of jewelry  including a watch valued at $7,500  was recently reported missing from a rural Douglas County residence.

A 55-year-old woman called the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and said the jewelry had been taken from a dresser drawer in her home in the 700 section of East 1452 Road.

The woman said she last saw the watch and jewelry in March and noticed they were missing June 25. Since then she had been checking to see if other family members might have the items, officers said.

The watch is made of 18-karat gold with diamonds around its face. Other missing jewelry includes pendants, rings and pearls, all with sentimental family value, the woman told officers.

There have been no signs of forced entry to the house, officers said. They have no suspects.
