Petry services

Mass of Christian Burial for Kelly Rae Petry, 31, Lawrence, will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Petry died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 18, 1971, in Great Bend, the daughter of James L. and Rose M. (Huslig) Meyeres.

She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1989. She attended Barton County Community College, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She then attended Fort Hays State University and graduated from Kansas State University in May 1994 with a degree in business education and computer science.

Mrs. Petry moved to Lawrence in 1994. She was a business teacher at Lawrence High School until 1997. She then was a business teacher at Free State High School until fall 1999. She sponsored cheerleading at both high schools. She was a sponsor for Business Professionals of America and was a co-sponsor for student council at Free State.

Mrs. Petry was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She married David Petry on July 11, 1998, in Great Bend. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Katelyn Anne Petry, of the home; her mother, Great Bend; and her maternal grandmother, Mary E. Huslig, Great Bend.

A parish wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the Kelly Petry Memorial Scholarship Fund to be used for Katelyn’s education, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
