Thomas’ ethics

To the editor:

Cal Thomas’ article titled “Gore ethical query a bit late” was a contradiction of previous statements in a tremendous effort to slander the likelihood of something other than what he stands for.

Thomas’ words are based on evidence not stated, and then backed up by contradictory statements. Thomas, who is often so quick to judge and speak on others, should be a little more careful of his own practices and words.

Thomas speaks of Gore’s ethical questioning of President Bush, but never states Gore’s questioning words. Thomas mentions Gore’s absence of ethical questioning of Clinton for nothing less than the opportunity to bad mouth his political opposite. Thomas throws another jab at Gore by rebutting Gore’s implication that Bush’s political motives might have been fueled by his family’s political past, by stating “who would know more about ‘the manor born’ than Al Gore” because his father was a senator. Not too good of an argument considering Bush’s father was a president.

Thomas goes onto poke at Gore’s private schooling, stating it was an attempt to keep him from “associating with public school riff-raff.” You would think one (Thomas) who wrote a column on pulling his grandchildren out of public schools due to the ill language and “mantra like gestures” to pagan gods of the students, all after his family went into a deep state of concern because one of their children would now be attending public schools, would not use such an argument against someone else. Maybe Thomas needs to look at his ethics.
