The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met for its weekly meeting and lesson July 31 at the Douglas County Senior Center. Don Brennaman gave the lesson and directed the stratified game. A Howell movement was used. First-place winners in the North-South A Strat were Chuck Hedges and Frances Vogel. Gladys Turner and Max Turner finished second. First place in B went to Don Daugherty and Harry Talley. East-West first-place winners were Julie Ward and Artie Shaw in A and B. Second place in A and B went to Bobbie McCorkle and Dick Moore. Jan Darting and Janet Williams placed first in C.

The Lawrence TGIF Duplicate Bridge Club met Aug. 2 at the Douglas County Senior Center. The game was stratified and used the Mitchell movement. North-South winners were Chris Lane and Klee Zaricky in A and B strats. Second place in A went to Patt Radford and Mildred Lindley. Third place in A and second in B went to Don Brennaman and Chuck Hedges. First place in C went to Addie Hanna and Barbara Wydman. Shirley Reese and Yvonne Hedges placed first in A and B in East-West. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley finished second in A and B and first in C.

The University Bridge Club announces winners of its Aug. 3 game, which was given by Freddie and Horace Nelson and Hank and Dottie Miller.

The blue winners were Al Smith, first; Maynard Bauleke, second; and Warren Lesh, third.

The pink winners were: Aileen Bocquin, first; Lois Liebert, second; and Aleen Sandgren, third.
