Houston Infielder Jose Vizcaino and the Houston Astros agreed Friday to a $2 million, one-year contract extension for 2003, a raise of $300,000.

Vizcaino, 34, began Friday with a .290 average, one homer and 17 RBIs. He hit .277 last season with one homer and 14 RBIs, his first season with the Astros.

Giants add lefty Eyre, send Brohawn to Fresno

San Francisco The San Francisco Giants sent left-handed reliever Troy Brohawn outright to Triple-A Fresno on Friday night to make room for newly acquired Scott Eyre.

The Giants claimed Eyre, another left-handed reliever, off waivers from Toronto on Thursday. Eyre was in the bullpen as San Francisco opened a three-game series against Pittsburgh.

Eyre went 2-4 with a 4.97 ERA in 49 appearances for the Blue Jays this season. He held left-handed hitters to a .218 average.
