Renegades land five on all-tourney team

Lawrence’s Renegades had five players make the USSSA 17-and-under World Series All-Tournament baseball team in Illinois.

They are: Brett Urban, Ryan Engel, Spence Chaney and Cal Heinrich. Urban hit .667 and was named the offensive player of the World Series. Defensive player of the tournament was Devon Myers, the Renegades’ shortstop/catcher.

In all, 16 players were honored. The Renegades finished the season 29-18.

Spencer finishes 12th at Kansas City Junior

Kansas City, Mo. Lawrence High junior-to-be Nathaniel Spencer shot a final-round 74, finishing in a four-way tie for 12th place at the AJGA Marsh Kansas City Junior Thursday.

Spencer shot 225 for the three day tournament, 11 strokes behind the winner.
