Neal A. Gleason

Services for Neal A. Gleason, 67, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow at Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Gleason died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at his home in rural Douglas County.

He was born June 29, 1935, in Rulo, Neb., the son of Frank and Inza (Vorce) Gleason.

He was sergeant 1st class in the National Guard, where he was an expert marksman for the rifle team. He was a route salesman for the Kansas Union at Kansas University for 15 years until he retired in 1997. He previously had owned an antique shop in Rolla, Mo., and worked as a trucker. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lawrence and was a Pro-Am bowler.

He married Claire Hardy on Aug. 22, 1956, in Tonganoxie. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Jama Lickteig, Lawrence; two sons, Kelly, Oskaloosa, and Todd, Lawrence; two brothers, Jerrold, Sacramento, Calif., and Jerome, Lawrence; a sister, Norma Harvey, Kimberly, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
