A former Lawrence priest is being sued by a Johnson County man who claims that while he was a minor he was a victim of the priest’s “reckless sexual contacts.”

The man now, 18, seeks damages in excess of $75,000 from the Rev. Dennis Schmitz and the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

The man states the incidents of sexual releations occurred between Jan. 1, and August 1, 1999 in Douglas and Nemaha counties. The man filing the lawsuit also is the alleged victim in two criminal cases filed against Schmitz in the two counties.
