Louise J. Everley

She was born Jan. 19, 1914, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Henry Lee and Pearle (Haight) Jarboe. She attended Border Star grade school and Westport High School. She graduated from Kansas University, where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

Mrs. Everley was a homemaker until she and her husband co-founded Everley Roofing and Heating in 1947. They retired in 1977.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 146 for more than 50 years, Eudora Area Historical Society, Eudora PTA, Lawrence AARP, Chi Omega House Corporation Board, Adah Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Helianthus Club, Ladies of the Lawrence Shriners, Ladies of the Jayhawk Fire Brigade, Williams Club, Alvamar Country Club, Lawrence Country Club, and Credit Professionals. She was also a life member of the KU Alumni Association.

Mrs. Everley was honored in 1999 by Douglas County Senior Services as a “Super Senior” for responding to society’s needs through caring deeds, expertise, and involvement with the community. She was a member of Eudora United Methodist Church and belonged to UMW and Martha Circle.

She married M.W. “Swede” Everley on Aug. 8, 1934, in Olathe. He died March 29, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Phil Everley, Eudora, and Steve Everley, Leawood; a daughter, Barbara “B.J.” Eichhorn, Leawood; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
