George Carey Bunds

Oskaloosa Services for George Carey Bunds, 87, Lincoln, Ill., and formerly of Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.

Mr. Bunds was born June 10, 1914 in Hanston, the son of Charles N. and Nellie E. Page Bunds. He lived in Topeka from 1943 to 1983 before moving to Lorida, Fla. He moved to Lincoln in 1996.

He was a truck driver for the May-Ransom-Sheets Construction Co. in Topeka, where he retired in June 1979 after many years. He also drove a cab during the winter months for the Union Cab Company in Topeka.

He attended the Church of the Brethren in Topeka and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Topeka.

Mr. Bunds married Jessie Violet Bledsoe on Sept. 16, 1937, in Ozawkie. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Jack E., Tulsa, Okla., Jim E., Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Judy E. Domme, Fowler, Ill, Janice E. Troendly, Geneva, Ill., and Joyce E. Bunds, Merriam; a brother, Robert, Lakewood, Calif.; two sisters, Vera Roberts, Warsaw, Mo., and Albert Harvey, Lake Worth, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
