IN 1902

On April 28, 1902, the Lawrence Journal, in the wake of an incident at Baker University, said, “The Journal does not desire to apologize for, or to conceal any of the shortcomings of the students of the State University, nor does it want to make any one think they are angels in disguise, but it does desire to call attention to the fact that nobody of them has ever yet been accused of breaking into the girls’ gymnasium when the girls were clad in bloomers and going through their exercises.”
