The Lyon Opera Ballet, a French group known for its contemporary and cutting-edge choreography, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lied Center.

The appearance is part of the troupe’s 14-city North American tour.

The program features “Un Ballo,” created in 1991 by Czech choreographer Jiri Kylian for his Nederlands Dans Theatre II. The dance is set to music from Maurice Ravel’s “Tombeau du Couperin” and his classic “Pavane Pour une Infante Defunte.”

The U.S. premiere of “Gaspard” by Finnish choreographer Tero Saarinen. Set to Ravel’s “Gaspard de la Nuit” and first performed by the Lyon Opera Ballet in 1998, the quintet explores the duality of the music, its apparent tenderness and its horrifying underside.

Meryl Tankard’s 1998 “Bolero,” a riveting tribute set to Ravel’s classic of the same name. With projected photographs of various sites in Lyon, Tankard uses light and shadow as theatrical components in the dance. He was inspired by the architectural play of the glass and blackness at the Lyon Opera House.

Admission ranges from $11 to $27.
