Recreation need

To the editor:

A teen-ager wrote that we do not have suitable recreation places in Lawrence. I’m inclined to agree. The dollar movie theater closed. The only one open is the Southwind with high prices and Liberty Hall downtown, which at times shows movies that aren’t appropriate for young people.

There’s only one bowling alley and no skating rink. So with no competition, these places can charge anything they want. The miniature golf course that was in town is closed.

If Lawrence is growing, what’s happening to the recreational businesses?
