Moncrief services

Services for Delbert H. Moncrief, 74, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Burial will be in Mount Sidney Cemetery, Linwood.

Mr. Moncrief died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Henryetta, Okla., the son of William and Mary (Milsap) Moncrief.

He grew up and attended school in Henryetta. He had moved six weeks ago to Eudora from Burlingame.

Mr. Moncrief was a two-year U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served during the war in Japan. He also served in the U.S. Naval Reserves after his discharge from the Army.

He worked as an aircraft inspector at Beech Aircraft, Wichita.

He married Mary Stuart on May 28, 1949, in Weatherford, Tex. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Waverly, Eudora, Howard, Garfield, Ark., and Joseph, Salem, Mo.; four daughters, Alta Carte, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Caro Joyce, San Antonio, Martha Moncrief and Lavone Deavers, both of Wichita; three brothers, David, Winslow, Ark., Bill, Conyers, Ga., and Doile, West Fork, Ark.; six sisters, June Myers, Paola, Wanda Stephens, Rogers, Ark., Atropa Rye, DeSoto, Ruth Hughes, Farmington, Ark., Frances Townsend, McLouth, and Mary Anna Goad, Brentwood, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.
