John Arthur Haller

He was born July 10, 1937, in Lawrence, the son of John Henry and Virginia Ellen (Connett) Haller.

He attended Lawrence public schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He graduated in 1964 from Kansas University School of Fine Arts.

Mr. Haller worked for many years as a senior art director for various commercial art firms in Kansas City, Mo., and Los Angeles. He returned to Lawrence in 1996 to be a free-lance artist.

His drawings and watercolors were exhibited in several area galleries.

Mr. Haller was a member of the Kansas City Art Directors Club, and he received

numerous awards for his art work.

He married Shirley A. Willison on July 19, 1957, in Ottawa. She died June 18, 1994. He married Tudy Youngberg on Nov. 9, 1996, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, S. Michelle Babcock and Tanya M. McNeely, both of Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Kerry Sutorious, Port Townsend, Wash.; a stepson, Scott Stuart, Iowa City, Iowa; a brother, James L., Lawrence; a sister, Barbara E. Haller, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
