Burglaries and thefts reported
Sometime between Friday and Monday, someone entered a storage building in the 1500 section of East 1100 Road and took numerous tools and concrete construction equipment, a Douglas County Sheriff’s report said. The door to the building located west of Lawrence was pried open. Losses were listed at $7,838. A 47-year-old Lawrence man reported the equipment’s disappearance.
Someone took several pieces of jewelry and a laptop computer from a residence in the 600 section of East 1750 Road. A 40-year-old woman reported the theft April 11 to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door. Losses were listed at $4,608.
Computer equipment was taken early Monday from a locked storage area at Kansas University’s Hashinger Hall, 1632 Engel Road, the KU Public Safety Office said. The equipment, valued at $2,697, was removed between 1:43 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.
