Free State soccer hammers Junction City
Junction City ? Free State High’s soccer team pounded Junction City, 10-0, in girls soccer Monday.
Katy Vormehr scored four goals and had two assists to pace the Firebirds.
Morgan Matthews and Michelle Garcia each had a goal and two assists, Meredith Mayo had a goal and an assist, while single goals were scored by Stephanie Mille, Kim Begert and Mary Bernhardt.
Alicia Sellon and Linsey Morningstar each played a half in goal for the Firebirds, 3-6-1.
Natalie Wilkins, Wallis Romzek and Jessica Heck had strong games.
“It was clear we were a better team from the beginning. We came out with a bit of a spunk and were fired up,” coach Jason Pendleton said. “We did some positive things.”
Free State will meet Olathe North at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at Free State.
