Sooners slip past Jayhawks

? Kansas University gave up just one big hit Sunday against No. 11 Oklahoma, but it happened to be a two-run home run in the Sooners’ 2-0 softball victory at the OU Softball Complex.

OU broke open a scoreless pitchers’ dual in the bottom of the sixth. Jennifer Stump drew a one-out walk before Heather Scaglione’s blast over the right field fence.

The Jayhawks threatened in the top of the seventh with two outs. Senior Leah Tabb walked and advanced to second on senior Megan Urquhart’s single. Both players then advanced on a wild pitch, but Serena Settlemier grounded out to short to end the game.

KU starter Kirsten Milhoan (6-4) took the loss despite limiting the Sooners to three hits.

The Jayhawks (29-21 overall, 5-9 Big 12) will travel to No. 4 Nebraska for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
