Regents receive chancellor’s report on KU

Chancellor Robert Hemenway on Thursday presented his annual report on the state of Kansas University to the Kansas Board of Regents.

Hemenway cited scholarships awarded to students, increased research funding and increased minority faculty as accomplishments in the past year.

He also touted his goal to get KU in the top 25 public universities by 2010. The university will reach that goal, he said, “when rankings are done of institutions and it is said that KU is always (in the top 25).”

After the presentation, Hemenway met with regents behind closed doors for his annual evaluation. Hemenway said much of the meeting had centered on how to handle proposed state budget cuts.

“I find these annual sessions extremely helpful for me as a chancellor,” he said.
