County to review insurance plan

Douglas County employees  from clerks in the treasurer’s office to sheriff’s deputies on the streets  would pay $25 a month for individual health insurance coverage under a plan up for approval Monday.

Douglas County commissioners will consider the premium as part of an overall insurance plan for the 2002-2003 plan year, which begins June 1. today’s meeting begins at 9 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass.

Employees currently do not pay a monthly premium for individual coverage, but commissioners have budgeted for monthly premiums to help cover the “growing costs of medical and pharmacy coverages,” said Pam Madl, the county’s director of administrative services. The county also would establish a separate plan for retiree coverage.
