Barnes services

Services for William L. Barnes, 73, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Barnes died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

He was born May 5, 1928, in Rolla, Mo., the son of John Henry and Mary Alice (Woods) Barnes. He grew up in Rolla, Mo., and attended school there. He moved to Lawrence in October 1954.

Mr. Barnes worked at O.D. Olmstead Construction Co., Lawrence, and then at Lawrence Construction Co. He worked there until he was disabled by a heart attack.

He attended Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church.

He married Beluah Delores Acton on Oct. 14, 1950, in Rolla, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Robert Paul, Baldwin; four daughters, Frances Juanita Newby, Eldon, Mo., Sandra Sue Barnes, McLouth, Norma Jean Mayfield, Oskaloosa, and Nancy Lin Barnes, Lawrence; a brother, Leo, Louisburg; a sister, Helen Davis, Rolla, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Frank Leslie, died Feb. 14, 1986.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until service time Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
