Diving Qualifiers: Nine members of the Jayhawk Diving Club have qualified for the National Junior Olympics on April 26-28 in Baton Rouge, La. They are Hannah Carlson, Emma Shankland, Linsey Price, Bradley Pinegar, Nick Leet, Nick Carr, Jeff Wolfert, Kristin Frieze and Cole Young.

Shoffner Medals: Brett Shoffner of the Lawrence Coyotes finished second in cadet freestyle, third in junior freestyle and fourth in junior Greco-Roman at last weekend’s Midwest Wrestling Report tournament in Overland Park.

Wilson Record: Dick Wilson of Lawrence set an ages 70-74 state record in the half-marathon with his clocking of 1:36:52 in last Sunday’s Raintree Run. Wilson broke the Kansas age-group record by nearly 16 minutes. A week earlier, Wilson had run the 10-mile in 1:11:13 to eclipse another state age-group mark.

Callahan Takes Two Golds: Kevin Callahan of the Baldwin Wrestling Club won gold medals in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Midwest Wrestling Report tournament last weekend in Overland Park. BWC’s Seth Halford won a silver in Greco-Roman and a bronze in freestyle. Joe Bonner won a bronze in freestyle and finished fourth in Greco-Roman.

Arkansas Winner: Doug Clark, a Kansas University assistant track coach, won the Arkansas Cares 5K Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., Clark’s time was 16:04.

Rodeo Champ: Ralley Smith, a Lawrence High junior, won the two-day saddle bronc competition at last weekend’s Eureka High rodeo.

Roesler JGC Winner: Chad Roesler shot a 73 to win Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar. Randy Conroy was runner-up with a 74. Mike Grosdidier was third with a 76. In net scoring, Bill Renick shot a 69 to edge Van Reichert by a stroke. Mike DuPree, Jay Patterson and Larry Whiteley all shot 71s.

LBA to Meet Sunday: Lawrence Bowling Association’s annual meeting will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Royal Crest Lanes. The LBA board, league representatives and other bowlers will attend the business meeting.

Jayhawks Meet Champs: Sport 2 Sport Jayhawks won the U-16 division of an invitational basketball tournament last weekend at Sport 2 Sport. Team members are Dain Dillingham, Cole Douglas, Andy Hannon, Arvelle Trotter, Caleb Harvey, Nick Holmes, Taylor Parker, Brady Morningstar and Caleb Holmes.

Manning Camp Dates: Former Kansas University basketball All-American Danny Manning’s annual basketball camp is scheduled July 29 to Aug. 2 at Sport 2 Sport. Registration deadline is July 24. For information, call Angie McClure at 841-7550.

State Powerlifting: USA Powerlifting’s state championships are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Ramada Inn. Organizers expect about 20 competitors, including several former national champions.

Lapin Hole-in-One: David Lapin used a nine-iron to ace the 147-yard No. 17 hole on Wednesday at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Witnesses were Gerard Mitchell, Mike Dunworth and Devin Boswell
