Andrea Stoneback scored in the 16th minute of the first half on an assist from Bliss Lemmon, goaltender Shannon Fisher recorded her fifth shutout of the season, and Lawrence High’s girls soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Topeka High on Tuesday night at Youth Sports Inc. fields.

Lawrence evened its record at 4-4-1. The Lions were playing for the fourth time in six days. They went 2-2 during that stretch.

“We just concluded four games in four school days,” LHS coach Keith Nelson said, “so we were pretty fatigued.”

Nelson cited the play of Stoneback, Diana Lawrence, Lindsay Garito and Aly Barland.

“We kept the ball in their end and had the majority of chances,” Nelson said. “They got a few shots, but a majority of the time, everything they threw at us, Lindsay Garito had a answer for.”

The Lions will play Thursday at Shawnee Mission North.
