Garrett services

Services for Kathleen Ann Garrett, 49, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Miss Garrett died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Truman Medical Center at Lakewood, Lee’s Summit, Mo.

She was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Lawrence, the daughter of Bill and Barbara (Hoskinson) Garrett. She was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School.

At a young age she began working in the family business. During high school she also worked at The Jay Shoppe. She had owned and operated the Kansas Avenue Deli and flower shops in Topeka. After returning to Lawrence from Topeka, she worked at Boone Produce, Spectrum Optical and in real estate. She was an active participant at Lawrence Farmers Market for a number of years. She was also a volunteer for Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen.

Miss Garrett attended Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Patti Garrett, Lawrence; a brother, Mike Garrett, Lawrence; and two sisters, Andrea Horch and Michele Simpson, both of Lawrence.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday and until service time Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
